My reasons for starting this blog was not to bitch about the Parsa Law Group forever. It was mainly just to get the word out to anyone else who may have been scammed by him. Dwelling on this rip off will get me no where.
I have sent my claim to the California State Bar to the Client Security Fund and they may reimburse the retainer fee I paid to Parsa. The fact that the State Bar has such a fund makes me wonder: Are they a lot of corrupt attorneys out there? Maybe, why else the need for such a fund?
Time to move on and voice my opinions about other things, which I will do in the coming days.
Karma has a way of taking care of things and I know karma will take care of Jim Parsa.

The State Attorney General Responds!
This afternoon I received an official looking envelope. "What's this?" I asked my husband as he brought it into the house. "Looks like you got your response from Jerry Brown" he said rolling his eyes anticipating that our streak of bad luck is continuing.- Sure enough the former, Governor Moonbeam did respond. My heart rate goes up slightly. I am thinking finally, here we go, someone who is listening.
Immediately after opening the official envelope, my hopes are dashed. It's your typical brush off, bureaucrat style:
"Dear Ms. Boyle, Thank you for your recent correspondence to Attorney General Edmund G. Brown, Jr.
We have reviewed your correspondence and determined that the following agency is in a much better position to render assistance to you in this matter. If you wish to pursue the matter further, we suggest you contact:
State Bar of California,""
blah, blah blah blah blah. WTF? From reviewing the Attorney General's own website, he sure talks a good game about going after fraudulent loan modification companies. Wouldn't the Parsa Group sort of fall into that same catagory?
So, let's review: I have reported this scam to 3 agencies and all 3 seem to be passing the buck.
1. Costa Mesa Police told me to report my case to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) as this is a "federal" issue.
2. The State Attorney General referred me back to the California State Bar as their agency is in a "better position to render assistance...."
3.The State Bar, thus far is a no-show. Plus, I really doubt they can offer any assistance. Afterall, they knew of Parsa's criminal case years before actually doing anything. If you review the calbar.org site, you will see this case involving Parsa is from September 1, 2000!!
check it here http://members.calbar.ca.gov/courtDocs/09-C-12545.pdf
The above does not include the "consumer" attorney I called yesterday. He does not seem to be returning my call. I should figure all the Liar-yers would stick together.
SO....NOW WHAT?
Not sure how much fight I have left in me.
AND NOW.....contacting all the government agencies who "might help" is a pain in the ASS
I do not know why I have any faith left but I do. There has to be justice. There has to be someone who will listen to me and all the other victims of the Parsa Law Group--somewhere? Anyone?
Several days ago, when it became obvious that I had been scammed, I immediately reported James Parsa to the State Bar of California. I faxed all my evidence to them. 9 days later, I have yet to receive even so much as an acknowledgement of receipt of my case. In the private sector, businesses are held to regulations that require they acknowledge correspondence in a matter of days. For example Insurance Companies are required to acknowledge receipt of your claim for damages within 48 hours--whether they actually do is another story but at least some regulations are applied to them and hopefully enforced.
I also reported Parsa to the State Attorney General, completing their form online, that was also 9 days ago. To date--NOTHING! I tried calling the office of the Attorney General but that proved to be a waste of time. It was the same voicemail hell you get when calling the DMV or the IRS.
I thought I might have better luck calling my State Senator, whom I found out is Jenny Oropeza. Thinking she's new and she might still have some passion left to actually be a true"civil servant". I was hoping to be delightedly surprised . However, it was, once more, not to be.
Although Jenny's Office Assistant was very nice, he did not fully grasp the information I was giving him. He referred me to HUD for a non-profit loan modification. Nice..... but I was expecting the Assistant to pick up on the fact one of Jenny's constituants was scammed by a local Attorney. I wanted Jenny to follow up with the Attorney General and try to get an investigator to call me. No such luck. I tried calling the Sacramento office phone number for Jenny but that was apparently a fax machine.
Yesterday I called a "consumer" attorney in hopes that he would accept my case and file suit against Parsa under some kind of consumer protection law for California. I left a detailed message (maybe that is why he's not calling back?).
Since writing this blog, I have gotten over 10 emails from fellow Parsa Law Group victims. We all have the same sick feeling "does anyone care" "Is there anyone we can trust" "will anyone help us". I am hoping for answers, but none seem to be coming anytime soon. My faith is fading fast.

Still trying to save my home
It has now been one week of trying to reach my so-called attorney, James Parsa, by telephone. There is still an outgoing message when you call the office, but it seems it has been changed slightly. The message now states the firm is "no longer accepting new clients" but still gives callers the phoney assurances that "we are diligently working to resolve your loan modification", HA, don't think so unless you can practice law without a license!
Today I start the task all over of faxing documents to my mortgage company. It's a tedious job and one I keep putting off--as you can see I am currently blogging rather than faxing.
Last night I contacted a woman named Erin Baldwin who is a self-proclaimed consumer advocate. I am waiting to hear from Erin. I contacted her because she's a victim of James Parsa too. I wanted to get her insights into this A-hole.
Erin started blogging about James Parsa over a year ago and for her efforts, Parsa filed a slander suit against her for several thousands of dollars. The case was heard in Orange County, California Superior Court. Erin lost! Who the hell was her attorney? She didn't just lose, she lost BIG time to the tune of $605,000. She alleged in her blog that Parsa was a pedophile, which is apparently the truth based on the court records posted at the calbar.org site. Isn't truth the absolute defense in slander cases? Erin's case is up on appeal. In in light of Erin's blogging allegations coming true in that Parsa's now been convicted on the charges of having sex with a minor, the judgment against Erin should be overturned. If not, there is no justice.
Erin had contacted OC Register, the local newspaper about Parsa and his activities, however the Register would not investigate Erin's allegations apparently because the Parsa Law Group were big advertisers in their newspaper. If only the Register had done a story, they might have saved all of us from being victims of this scamming attorney.
All for now. I need to start my faxing!
Trust your gut at all times.
I am sitting here, stunned and with a huge knot in my stomach. It's the kind of knot that is down low in your abdomen and makes you catch your breath. The kind of knot that comes with the full realization your fears have come true. No use trying to deny it, the cold hard fact is looming over you. I am beating myself up because I denied my initial gut instincts and that is never a good thing! I stupidly believed and trusted the star of late night informericals, the self-proclaimed "savior of homeowners" James Parsa, an attorney with a past as a scumbag and with any luck a new home as a future inmate in county jail.
I dial the attorney's phone number again. I still can't believe there's no "live" person to answer.
I google the attorney's name, suddenly there are several "hits" leading me to posts about this attorney and all are negative. Where was all this information months ago when I researched James Parsa?
I dial the phone number to his office over and over again, getting the same lame recorded message "due to increased call volume we are experiencing extended time in which to return your calls. We are unable to speak with you by telephone, but rest assured your case is important to us and we are diligently working to resolve your loan modification. Please direct all inquiries to clientservices@blowme.com, we will respond in 14-21 business days". WTF?
My hand is shaking and in it I hold a Certified letter from the bank saying foreclosure proceedings will commence in 30 days if I don't bring my mortgage current. What? But I retained an attorney, I paid him $3,300 up front. He assured me verbally that my loan modification was a "slam dunk". He also told me "don't pay your mortgage, the companies don't work with us if you are current, you need to be at least 3-4 months behind".
I frantically dial the number again--same recording. It's not going to change.

Reluctantly, I call my mortgage company. They tell me (as I suspected) they have never heard of my attorney. Never did they received any of the voluminous paperwork I spent days getting together and a small fortune faxing to my attorney. I learn I can re-send everything to my lender, but foreclosure will not stop. I say " But I was told by my attorney if I were negotiating a modification foreclosure would be stopped" I am told "oh no that's not true". Why should I be surprised.
I call the State Bar of California. I am told to file a formal written complaint and that "Attorney Parsa is being investigated and suspension of his license is imminent". My hand shakes more, my neck tightens and immediately I feel my head hurt. Why is this happening?
I dial the attorney's phone number again. I still can't believe there's no "live" person to answer.
I google the attorney's name, suddenly there are several "hits" leading me to posts about this attorney and all are negative. Where was all this information months ago when I researched James Parsa?
I visit one of the many complaint sites and learn I am not the only one scammed by the Parsa Law Group. Introduced through mutual suffering, I meet Scott from Irvine. Poor man was duped worse than me. I learn Scott retained the firm to have his first and second mortgages modified. I almost did that too, but decided to see how it went with just getting the primary modified. Scott's experience was the same as mine. He too was told by the Parsa Law Group that his loan modification was a "slam dunk" and his completing of paperwork only a "formality".
I also learn about Gilbert, an elderly man with 2 dogs he adores, worried that he will be kicked out of his home, with no where to go and frightened to lose the dogs he loves so much. I feel for the guy but I am not sure what I can do to help him. I email him and offer to help him get his paperwork together to fax his mortgage lender. He emails back that he is so thankful and will let me know.
Attorneys (and anyone else for that matter), who prey on helpless elderly people and children are the scum of the earth. Coincidently, I find in my research that James Parsa is just such an attorney--the kind that preys on children. Interesting and distrubing information was found at the calbar.org site advising the public Mr. Parsa was convicted on a moral/ethical charges (having sex with a minor). The information is of public record and is found at calbar.org. If only those charges were listed prior to my retaining James Parsa! http://members.calbar.ca.gov/courtDocs/09-C-12545.pdf.)
I dial the attorney's phone number again. I can't even leave a nasty message. So I decide to send an email and unload my anger. Better to vent on them than keep it bottled up.
Scott sends me an email saying someone showed up at the Parsa Law Group threatening them with a gun and the entire office has been shut down, no one there. I don't condone violence but that's one way to get your point across for sure. Too bad in situations where people take the law into their own hands, all to often it's innocent people who are hurt, not scumbags like James Parsa who really deserve it.
I am lost and that's where I was before hiring the lord and savior of homeowners, except now I have $3,300 less in my pocket. I struggled to keep my agreement with Mr. Parsa. I kept my part of the deal, that's more than I can say about Attorney Parsa. Always trust your gut!
